Is there a certain song....

.....that brings back a specific memory for you? (Let's try to focus on the good stuff!)

I remember being quite small, and sitting at the kitchen table drawing, with my Aunt upstairs blasting "Logical Song" by Supertramp!

Strange how some things just stick in your head....

Re: Is there a certain song....

Lazy.... Long car rides with the old man and I'd rewind at the end of the song, or 'flip the tape' and play whatever was on the other side *Black Night I think* and filp again to hear Lazy again.

Re: Is there a certain song....

I guess "Simple Man" always just seems to flood my brain with loads of positives from my past... not one thing in particular but I always seem to reminice on better times listening to that one...

Albums for me. Foreigner's first and Heart's Little Queen. They always remind me riding through the mountains on a trip to Myrtle Beach with my mom and sister when I was a kid.

I got my first speeding ticket to KROKUS, "SCREAMING IN THE NIGHT" on my way to work when I was 16. DIO "WE ROCK" my first concert. I remember my crazy friend headbanging like there was no tomorrow.

That phrase "it was the best of times it was the worst of times"
Some of my most profound realisations about my own life came to me miles away from any where while listening to these two songs...

Re: Is there a certain song....

Sunshine Of Your Love by Cream always takes me back to being a little kid left in the car in the pub car park with bro and sis, while Mum and Dad went for a drink. They would bring us out a lemonade and a packet of crisps (potato chips - US) and we would listen to Cream on the 8 track.

Happy days! Wouldn't be allowed now. Still a favourite song. We do it in the band. One of the two songs I song on.

At Last, which was the first time I heard my fiance' belt something out that wasn't opera. Karaoke bar a few years back where my brother was DJing and he and the whole damn bar just stopped and was like HOLY SHIT, she's really DAMN GOOD.

Re: Is there a certain song....

Anything by Shirley Bassey reminds me of my old man. He loved her, my mum hated her. So if I was listening to Shirley it would be in his car with just him and me. When he knew he was dying I took him to his favourite London restaurant, then to Ronnie Scotts and lastly a right joint called "Jacks" in Goodge Street. I payed the stripper to give him a one on one to "Diamonds are Forever"! Cost me an extra £20 as she complained afterwards that he bit her on the snatch! So Diamonds are Forever is that certain song for me!

Yeah..
These always makes me homesick for the southern Shires of England whenever I'm abroad.
'Ralph Vaughn Williams' One of my favourite English composers who captures England in his music beautifully.

Her Strut by Bob Segar, that was all over the radio back then and I also wore that album out, now I can't listen to him.

Re: Is there a certain song....

When I was young (1984) I remember riding in the back of my dad's van (he does flooring) sliding around on a roll of carpet listening to John Lennon "Nobody Told Me" on the radio. I remember my dad asking me "Did anybody tell you there would be days like this?"

Good times!

Every time I hear that song, off I go, back to my youth...

Anything by Hoyt Axton, John Cougar Mellencamp, or CCR. I remember my dad playing them all the time when I was a kid, and I really learned to appreciate them.
