If a performer arrived on the scene called Gentleman Goo Goo and looked like David Hasselhoff in a Klingon uniform and had multiple face lifts what would you initially think?. Not to mention everytime he performed,his purported vagenis kept eating his silver leather pants. But man can he play that keytar.

Actually the only thing about Gaga that I find really annoying is her name.

she is interesting in a bowie, peter (circa early when they were good genesis) gabriel, performance artist type of way. i can't speak of her music (which i am guessing is nowhere as interesting as bowie or gabriel) but she has the image thing down pat.

She writes her own songs, plays her own instrument (keyboard) and sings her iwn songs (without using Autotune). So like her or not, she's more skilled and more genuine than most of the garbage out there.

I like her songs, I went to see her in concert this year and I thought hmmm i'm sure i've been here before.. then realised oh i have on the last two Madonna tours i went too wish a splash of Michael Jackson's HIStory tour thrown in.

I couldn't agree more. I don't see how she is "so far ahead" of other pop singers. Having a little girl, I get the pleasure of listening to this kind of music, and I don't see what the big deal is about her. Her voice isn't that good, and is mostly autotuned. She sounds like Antoine Dodson. It just sounds like cheap dance music like Kylie Manogue.
