We certainly could use him now, there's not alot of great new music out there lately. He is missed greatly and the blues just isn't the same.

I remember being at work and hearing it on the radio, hard to believe that it has been 20 years. It was a very sad day for me that day at work. Long live the memory of SRV.

I recall the one time I saw SRV perform, in 1984;
 what a phenomenal show  was always a big fan after that but his untimely death was quite shocking; I always felt bad for his family & close friends RIP bro' ................... |

Never saw him play live -- in fact, I ignored the Blues back then-- but he's the reason I decided to pick up the guitar in the first place.

Strange day of mixed emotions for me.
My mother died this day in 1977... My wife and I married this day in 1983... SRV died this day in 1990...

SRV was easily the best show I have ever seen - in July of 1990 at Saratoga, NY.

An American icon. A true innovator. I was lucky enough to see him 4 times. His playing, most of all, is why I finally went out and got a Fender. I was strictly a Gibson man before Stevie.

I was going to post this until I saw this thread.
I still remember where I was (driving home from seeing Rik Emmett) and who I was with when I heard that Stevie had died. Sadly, the friend I was with and who loved Stevie's work as much as I do, died about six weeks ago. I still remember seeing SRV open for Robert Plant. Talk about a great double-bill!
