Sebastian Bach Talks to Slash About Joining Velvet Revolver, Joins Gone Country Cast

It's a big news week for former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach. Besides the announcement earlier this week that he'll join season two of Gone Country, VH1’s ratings goldmine, Bach admitted to a Florida radio DJ yesterday that he’s talked to Slash about the possibility of joining Velvet Revolver, which parted ways last month with vocalist Scott Weiland.

Not without reservations, Bach said his potential union with Velvet Revolver would be “awkward,” explaining that he prefers his current solo work to the work of Velvet Revolver. "It would all depend on music," Bach said. "I wouldn’t just join the band just to join the band. If we came up with some incredible new songs, then maybe I’d think about it.”

Bach also made it clear that his loyalties are to Axl Rose, who’s maintained a longstanding feud with ex- Guns N’ Roses bandmate Slash.

“I’m very close friends with Axl,” Bach told Tampa’s 98 Rock radio station, “and he sings three songs on my new record … Axl’s been so nice to me—he’s helped me out my whole career. In Skid Row he helped us out, and in my solo band he brought me around the world, and then sang three songs on my new CD [Angel Down], which is pretty mind-blowing. I don’t know … It’s a cut-throat business, but Axl’s been so nice to me, I don’t think I would feel comfortable just joining Velvet Revolver and singing his songs every night. So I don’t think that’s gonna happen.”


Bach is currently shooting Gone Country 2 in Nashville

i saw that reality show with sebastian bach singing for ted nugent. he's a prima donna. has to have things his way or he can't function. i wouldn't let him into my band and i think it would be a bad thing for slash.

Cool voice, but he *along with a few other blonde haired 80's singers* INVENTED what we have now come to call Lead Singer Disease, or LSD.

We can all agree that musicians of all types have problems... Guitarists generally have no concept of volume, or what a 'mix' should sound like... Drummers have no concept of 'musicality' and bass players can't grasp time signatures...

But by far singers with LSD are the worst to deal with.

He thinks axl wrote velvet revolvers songs??? The times Ive seen them they only ever do one gnr song a show, and not always one written by axl....

Personally not someone Id like to see fronting VR

Sebastian Bach's recent interview in Australia talking about VR and Axl.

I think it's funny that when Scott Weiland left VELVET REVOLVER, the last thing he said was, "I think Sebastian Bach would be a good choice for you guys." I think that's because he's alluding to the fact that you can't get away from GUNS N' ROSES. They're like THE BEATLES or THE ROLLING STONES. I'm sure he felt frustrated in trying to fill Axl's shoes. Axl texted me right away and asked if I was joining VELVET REVOLVER, and I said, "No, not that I know of." Axl has been so nice to me, I wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize our friendship. I'm in the middle of all these huge rock icons who are calling me at the same time, and I'm sitting there thinking, "How does this f**king happen to me?" Axl said to me, "Dude, the way that you sing is rare." The way that Axl sings is rare too. There's not a lot of guys anymore that can sing in the range that we sing in.

I'm With The Band: Would Axl be unhappy if you were to sing for VELVET REVOLVER?

Bach: I think it would be awkward. I opened for two GUNS ‘N ROSES tours. Axl sang on my record and I sing on "Chinese Democracy". We're very close friends. For me to join a band and then sing all of his songs would be kinda weird. But "Angel Down" is what's in my heart and I can't wait to get out there and tour it. That's what I'll be doing for the foreseeable future.

I guess this clears up the rumours.....
