Decorating for the holidays.

Does anyone decorate the outside of their house for the holidays? Pictures would be a plus!

No, but you already knew that.

Yeah. My family does every year. But now, we won't. Because we've just migrated to Canada and times are hard...

Re: Decorating for the holidays.

We usually put up a couple of string of lights along the front. Nothing too wild, mainly because I have a thing about standing on ladders.

Bole does too, he hates heights. I've been thinking about wrapping some lights around the stair railings this year though. We don't put up a tree any more (too much of a PITA, no room for it with the guitar crap all over the place, and the cats mess it up).

We have an artificial tree, and the kitten (we call her that, even though she's going on 3) loves climbing up inside it. We still set it up, though.

Re: Decorating for the holidays.

Spacey knocks all the balls off the tree (we have a fake one too in the attic). The tree looks pretty bare with no balls on the bottom 1/4 of it. We'd always wake up to ornaments all over the floor. I just don't want them getting hurt by the hooks on the ornaments. That, and there is no room in the new house for the big tree we have. Very cute kitty BTW.

Usually do lights on the outside. A few or sometimes a Griswold Christmas. This year, don't want to spend the money. Electric bill is still pretty large without it.

We use those silk-wrapped styrofoam balls (with strings to put them on the branches) on the tree. They still knock them off and we find them under the furniture until February, but at least we know they won't stand the chance of hurting themselves.

We tried decorating a cat-proof tree last year. We went to michael's (a crafts store) and bought little decorations with pipe cleaners attached and wrapped them around the branches a couple of times. We also got paper stars covered with foil and ribbon garland. At least that way they couldn't break anything.

Re: Decorating for the holidays.

I got the plastic balls that look like the glass ones so nothing would get broken. All the good ornaments I have from family are in boxes. We'll have to try something one of these days. Maybe little fishing line loops instead of the metal hooks.

Re: Decorating for the holidays.

The inside of the house is fully decorated, trees up and MOST of the outside lights are up. Thanksgiving night we put up the tree etc. I dont mind putting the stuff up but I hate putting it away.

Re: Decorating for the holidays.

I could not afford the electric bill (or having to move) for all that crazy stuff.

We'll have our fake tree up as soon as I figure out how to block my 11 month old daughter from it!

Re: Decorating for the holidays.

We always decorate outside and inside. I probably won't be able to get the outside of the house done this year because of a bad shoulder which may need surgery and I don't let my wife up there. I love the decorating but the taking down is a real drag.

Nope!

At the HempPad I just put up the 4' tabletop fiber-optic tree, changes colors... Ooooooo! That's about it for me! My first Christmas in the new house I did it up with the live tree and the front of the house decorated, then after cleaning up tree needles for the next 36 months decided I wasn't doing that anymore!
At least I have my fake tree... pretty soon it will just be the jolly Holiday Hookah!
