Wesley Les paul copy,

Ok so I have the wesley semi acoustic guitar ( ovation celebrity copy )

Now i have been looking at this guitar in my local guitar shop for a while. Here is the web link
Feels nice im my hands, and about the same weight ( slightly heavyer than my epi lp)

Has good sound, maybe not as toney and my epi but i guess i can change out the pickups right? mabey all it needs is decent caps.

Sounds bright tho, through a line 6 amp, and with some distortion you could never tell.

Anyone have any experiance with wesley, apart from me.
I know they are cheap, but at leat they use there own headstock, and the body is slightly different,
And they are made in ireland too.

I love the semi acoustic, its a great sounding guitar, And i know acoustics are harder to make, and even harder to sound good,

Deliverd £96 pounds brand new... got to be worth the gamble, even if it is just another LP to hang up.....

Yes i have GAS

Re: Wesley Les paul copy,

Are you SURE they are made in Ireland? I don't believe there's any modern European manufacturer who can boast of 20,000 satisfied customers world-wide. I've read that Wesley are made in the Far East. If they are the build quality for £96 can't be great. If you work out that the sellers got to make a profit, the shipping costs and the fact the manufacturer will be making a profit too I'd guess they cost less than £30 to actually make.

Don't expect it to be up to much!

Re: Wesley Les paul copy,

I used to own a P90 Wesley, forgot the model name... Freeport?

The guitar wasn't anything special, paint chipped off easily. The pickups really sucked and their wires were patched. I installed better pickups and replaced the pots, but I somehow couldn't warm up to the guitar so I sold it. Had some fretboard buzz I couldn't get rid off as well.

That LP is most likely made from basswood.
