NEW Elitist on the way!!
Well, after reading a million posts on here, and some good advice from folks, I have finally pulled the trigger on an Elitist Les Paul. I just ordered a Plus top Faded Cherry from Sweetwater. I know I know....mail order is a crap shoot....I know when I ordered my Epiphone Les Pauls, I went through about 5 to get a good one from AMS. But if what everyone has said is true...the Elitist is a more consistently built, quality instrument. I am hopeful. I will post pics as soon as I get it.

Re: NEW Elitist on the way!!
You'll love it.
Did you confirm that they had them in stock? I was under the impression that the online vendors were all out of inventory (some claiming "backorder" even though no more are being made). Let us know when she arrives! I've played a dozen Elitists or so - every last one of them was a great guitar.

Looks just like mine - you're gonna love it, good on you for getting one before they're completely out of stock!

Re: NEW Elitist on the way!!
Congratulations!! That's a very nice top on that one... looks just like mine.
My Elitist also came with top hat knobs, though I bought it used from someone else. Some people on here say that theirs came stock with speed knobs. Does anyone know why some come stock with speed knobs and others with top hats??

Re: NEW Elitist on the couch!!
Thanks all for your input! I RECEIVED IT TODAY!
OK.....so I have to be honest, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect when I opened the case. Everyone has their own idea of what works for them. I have an OK collection of some pretty good guitars..... 2007 Epiphone Les Paul Plus Top Quilt Amber. 2007 Epiphone Les Paul Plus Top Honeyburst 1984 Gibson Les Paul Standard Heritage with factory Kahler 1985 Stratocaster PRS Santana SE (2) Ibanez SZ320's Carvin Bolt Strat Takamine G340c Alvarez Yairi 12-string. Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Plus Fade Cherry First impression after an hour of getting acquanted......I LOVE this guitar! All the positive things I have read here were absolutely spot-on! The fit and finish are very high quality for sure. The set-up is extremely good for out of the box, and it is VERY playable. The fret job is clean, no high frets, no buzzes, and no dead spots. The weight is perfect, it has great sustain, warm tone, and s very balanced up and down the fret board. I have had my 1984 Les Paul since it was new. That guitar means alot to me, and it has been my main axe forever it seems. But I will be totally honest in saying that the Elitist is a superior guitar in the quality of the details, and the sheer playability. I have played a number of new Gibson Les Pauls over the last couple of years, but have been less than impressed. They don't seem to even bother setting them up before shipping them, and they the build quality is pretty sketchy. NOTHING like this Elitist! I bought my two Epis this past spring. The Amber Quilt top was a rare find. I bought that guitar close out for $399.00. I went through 4 bad ones before I got this one. This one is TOTALLY unique to any guitar I have ever played. It weighs a freaking ton, and feels like it was carved from stone. The sound is so big and warm...it is the best value I have ever gotten from a guitar. The Honeyburst is a good guitar, but I have played it for a grand total of maybe two hours. I am now selling that one: $400.00 to anyone interested before I put it on Ebay. I had the nut changed to bone, and had it professionally set-up. It's a nice axe. But this new Elitist is really a fine instrument, and I thank you all for the push in this direction!! ![]() ![]()

Re: NEW Elitist on the way!!
Congrats! I have the same model - they're excellent guitars, under normal room lighting it looks like a big piece of butterscotch candy.
