I replaced the Pups in my Epi LP Special II
I scored a set of Gibsons for the Epi. A 490r, and a 498t that a friend of mine just gave me. This setup screams in my Epi, and really brings out a warm tone. I absolutely love this setup so far. I will get pics later, but the covers actually look better then the open pups that came stock.

Yeah man, those are nice Pups. If you want to do anything else I would try to put a new tone and vol pot in there.

Re: I replaced the Pups in my Epi LP Special II
What Pots would you recomend for it? I actually thought about doing them while I was at it, but decided to leave them. I was thinking about just using the Factory replacement Gibson Pots.
The difference in tone is amazing compared to stock. The best thing is that I can blend the neck and bridge, which i never could do with the factory pups. The bridge always overpowered the neck. I still have to shorten the adjustment screws on the front pickup, as the Gibson screw are to long and bottom out in the body. If you notice I had to switch the mounts to make the neck pup sit right. I didn't have anything to cut the screw off with at the time, but will tackle that soon. |
