Holey SHIT!!! Where do I start??!! Most of you read about my "no pay" auction on my James Burton, so I re list it, no big deal. The bidding goes well this morning and with just seconds left, we have a WINNER!! Or do we??? Why me God? What did I do to deserve this?? I stated clearly in the auction, USA Lower 48 shipping ONLY! I send an invoice to the winner and guess what?? He's in friggin Holland!!! Anyone want to guess what shipping is to Holland?? $399.97 (I called UPS). Then (oh it gets better), he emails me and says he can only PayPal me $1,000. International thing?? I just PayPaled a lot more than that to Duke for his Nocaster. Anyway, I emailed him back and told him to PayPal me the $1,000, then send me a check for $775 ($375+400), and I'd ship the guitar after the check cleared. I'm having the worst damn luck with this guitar. Oh, and I go to contact the second bidder to keep him in the loop in case this one doesn't work out. Yeah, you guessed it, he's in friggin Italy!! Somebody give me some encouraging words before I go to the liquor store!!!!

Sorry for your runaround. ebay can be ridiculous. I can't see the buyer going through with it due to the shipping. I'm betting he'll back out. Italy for the second? damn, your luck is consistent , isn't it?

You know, this guitar is sexy and plays great and sounds friggin mean. I just can't get past the gold hardware (not on a Fender), and I'm afraid I'm going to scratch it, it's so damn shiny and purdy. If I hadn't just bought Duke's Nocaster AND my 52 reissue, I'd say screw it, get the hardware powder coated, and just hang it up for display.

NO!. You DON"T have to sell it. You are not out. If you have to, take a hit and move on. You can still add a decent rebuttal to a negative can't you?
Besides, you stated no oversea buyers and the winner violated your auction rules by bidding.

BTW, I LOVE the gold on your tele, it rocks my world because of the gold and its whole mojo!

Return his paypal , then file a non-paying bidder claim......(so you don't have to pay EBAY FEES) and Relist it
he has to pay shipping, and you clearly stated no bids out of the US...

+1 These asshole bidders don't read the auctions before they bid. I would say in the future, definitely figure out how to turn off international bidders.

Try selling it on Craigslist first at no charge. Most people specify pickup on large items. That would solve a few problems at once.

I would list it in my description about 4 times- USA bidders only........ if you do not live in the 48 Contintental States (Sorry AK, and HI) DO NOT BID.

I've listed this on Craig's list like 4 times and have never talked to/met more flakes in my life. I sold another guitar on there but, I've just had bad luck with this one.

Ebay for me is a last resort for anything. I usually go for craigslist.. but yea there are a billion flakes on there. I usually get 3-4 flakes on an item before someone finally comes over and buys the damn thing. But I just keep relisting... it's all about patience! If you lose your patience and go to eBay, things can get even more stressful.

i would pay the shipping. (to germany).
someone who bids on a guitar which is located in the US
normally knows how high the shipping is.

Plus you have to pay like 20% customs...
there ae some limitations in dealing internationally,
but hey: money doesn't stink. If someone pays 1800 $ plus shipping for your
guitar - why not?

it would not be fair to block international bidders per se..
over here are really nice people that like to play good guitars as well.

Jomo, I feel your pain bro... I just sold a guitar on ebay too and I have at least a dozen questions about the guitar. Most of them asked questions that were CLEARLY answered in the ad. Half of them were overseas asking, "I'm in Spain, can you ship it to me?", I"m in Holland, can you ship to me??? crap, what part of lower 48 US only don't they understand.

Luckly, I sold it for a tidy profit. But when I logged in to My ebay I see the winning bidder has a Canadian address! I'm like WTF!!!

I contacted him via ebay email and it took about 36 hours for him to respond. I was about to give it to a second high bidder who lived in the same state as me. I told him hang on he may have a crack at it but I have to confirm the high bidder is indeed in Canada. Well he finally contacted me and said he used to be in Canada but was not in Wash. state. and had a verified Paypal address. So he sent me the funds and I shipped it Monday. I had to let me second place bidder he wasn't getting it afterall. Man I felt so bad for him, he was within 10 bucks of winning it...

Then that same day I sold one of my old Marshall 4x12 cabinets on Craigslist, so I got some cash flow back after buying my new "pumpkin". That's what I'm calling my 03R9 BZ Brockburst. I got to see her for the first time on Halloween.

Hang in there Jomo, things happen for a reason. Who knows, you may get a better deal down the road on that guitar or maybe you'll find get a trade deal. Or even better, if it takes a little more time to sell it I'd be willing to bet that right after it does sell you'll find another guitar you can't live without and you'll have the cash to get it.

Think positive! After last night's election that's all I got left..... is hope.

Let me run this by you guys (the ones that are still checking this thread). I get an email from him asking me if there's any way I can take a credit card. I call PayPal and they say "sure, just send him a money request, and he can use his cc". So I go to email him the "news" and he already emailed me. He said "my friend sent you PayPal funds for me, send to different address" and gives me a different address. REALLY?? Oh, it's better. The "friend" emails me in Dutch with a Dutch PayPal address. I click on it and it asks me to log in. I DON"T THINK SO! I emailed him back and said "when I go in MY PayPal account, and see the money in there, I'll send the guitar". I'm going to give it a little longer and then, I'll email him back and say that the "friend's" money didn't make it, I'm sending YOU a money request. I'm honestly 50/50 on thinking this is a scam. He has like 10 positive feedbacks on ebay.

One thing that I just thought of and I emailed him (waiting for a reply). It occurred to me that his friend may have tried PayPaling my email that we are communicating through which is different from my PayPal. Boy o boy, I'm friggin stressed.
