Re: Neck Break Repair?
It looks like it was previously repaired, which means that it was done poorly, compromising the area. More pics would help.
I spend a lot of time fixing fixes.....if folks would just DO IT RIGHT, there would not be a second time.

Re: Neck Break Repair?
There is no "typical" price because they all break differently.

Re: Neck Break Repair?
Thanks very MUCH!
I surely don't know how you could see a previous repair but I'm certainly not qualified as many here especially you. I do appreciate your reply & was hoping that I would garner some wisdom from your experience. What a great forum! ![]() Again, MANY THANKS BCRGreg ! Link to auction |

I can't see jack. ![]() If it's been repaired before, you're gonna have to use some splints.

Re: Neck Break Repair?
If I bought it, I would put some epoxy on it, clamp it. Then make two splints out of wood, drill out from the break and glue the splints in. Then sand and finish
I dunno how much it would cost, my tech charged 120 for a headstock break, with the headstock completly broken off.

Hard to tell from the pic, but possibly the shading already there in the volute area (where a volute would be) may indicate an oversprayed repair. Cheers, |

Re: Neck Break Repair?
I posted this in another thread, but it's appropriate here as well.
Cost about $450.00 US to take it from Swiss Cheese with a rusty butter knife to the final product. It had been previously repaired twice! Third one is a charm. No, the rusty knife is long gone. I wonder if George, my luthier still has it? Gotta ask him.... ![]()
