Seymour Duncan Combo
I was on Seymour Duncan's website and i was looking at the pearly gates. SD also recommended the SH-11 Custom Custom for heavier rock sounds which is pretty much what i'm looking for. Has anyone tried this combo and how does it sound

Re: Seymour Duncan Combo
im not sure about the SH-11 but I have a PG neck.
it plays very well and chunkie from clean to semi clean but turns overly muddy with any heavy gain i like the PG alot and dont play too heavy and is extremly good for SRV type stuff and for that little wing, wind cries mary tone if you want something buttery that can handle gain real nice try a Seth Lover. its an A-2 but is real real nice I have one in my tele and she rips SD has a 21 day return policy and theyre known to extend it for like 30 days and even more is you talk nice to them. If you ever have to return one talk to Ron in the tech dept. he hooked me up with a few returns and even paid the postage both ways |

Re: Seymour Duncan Combo
Wow i'm set on the PG then for sure. I'm gonna try out the SH-11 and see how I like it. I want to get a nice clean tone and something that will really shred. I'm not really set to a type of music and would like to learn how to play a little bit of everything. I have a Jack of All Trades, Master of None approach to everything I do. I like metal, classic rock, punk you name it.

Re: Seymour Duncan Combo
To me, the CC is treble-free and not a good pickup. I don't like the PG either since it has a sizzle on top that isn't to my liking and some wired low-mids push.
For heavy non-metal rock I'd use a Duncan Custom and a Seth Lover. For a slightly metalish direction a Duncan Distortion and a Jazz. |

Re: Seymour Duncan Combo
I just scored a LP standard recently and also in the market for new set of duncans.
My favorite combo is the SH-4 'JB' bridge and SH-1n '59' for the neck, this combo has served me well in many other guitars. |

Re: Seymour Duncan Combo
Seymour's personal favorite combo is the JB and a Jazz.
