Green #2 for sale?

Anyone else get this one? Evidently Music Ground have got Green's #2 Les Paul (to be honest I didn't know there was a #2) for sale. It's a '59. I'm about $285K short of the asking price, so won't be making an offer!

Usual questions pop into my head...

Re: Green #2 for sale?

have you got a link to this at all...??

Greeny idnt have a no2, what is normally referred to as No2 is a 59 LP Mick Fleetwood bought him to try and get him back playing (in the 70's) - Peter gave it to someone in an elevator he bumped into, which caused panic and mick fleetwood trying to find the guy it was given to for an afternoon - I think he found it in a pawn shop!

Here is that guitar today. I've been trying to find out the history of this one . It belongs to a friend. See my thread "recognize these beauties" here as well as on the other forum.

Re: Green #2 for sale?

Whats up with GM? He was a idiot for selling the original burst, he should have gave it back to Green and said "thanks man" Green did him a favor.

Re: Green #2 for sale?

the 'story' is that GM cancelled a tour andthe only way to pay back what was owed to whoever was to sell the guitar.

those do look similar but there appear to be some differences too (mark next to the toggle switch in the greeny picture). Cany find any details about musicground having the guitar though, do you know how your friend came to have it yeti??

Hi, Big dawg
It's the same guitar, a 60 Burst, pictured also in Robb Lawrence's Book ( Legacy of Les Paul) on page 241. Frank Lucido ( LA Dealer who sold it to Mick Fleetwood), Paul Warren ( previous owner) and Robb Lawrence all confirmed it's identity. The whole story can be found here

I'm still trying to find out what happened after PG got rid of it one way or another.
Thanks

Re: Green #2 for sale?

In the MG. sales pitch, they claim a written letter of verification from Peter,a hand signed cavity plate(Peter Greenbaum) plus various film and photographic evidence.
So it must be really true..All for under £200K.

Re: Green #2 for sale?

Not on a site, just emailed out on one of their usual circulars.

The one MG have got is a '59 rather than a '60. Letter of authenticity could be from Green, or possibly the bloke everyone thought was Green until the man himself reappeared in the mid 90s, or possibly anyone else since I believe Green has gone to ground again.

It's certainly not the guitar Yeti's friend has got, which looks like a better contender by a long way.

Weird thing is the price for the '59, especially one with a provenance like that. I would have expected it to be a lot higher.

Hi, Single cut 54
Any way to forward that MG email to me? I'd like to learn more about the film and photographic evidence. Interesting note here. The guitar that belongs to my friend was insured by Lloyds of London along with a 52 Goldtop. Frank Lucido told me that he was contacted years after he sold the Burst to MF/PG and was asked about the story behind the replacement neck. I believe that the guitar was sold by PG or Mick Fleetwood in the UK. The dealer then discussed the neck issue with Frank Lucido, bought and then sold this burst to someone who had enough guitars (and status , I guess ) to insure them with Lloyds of London. I have not been able to find any evidence to support this theory. Any info is greatly appreciated. Does anyone have pictures of PG playing #2?
Thanks
Werner
