Thinking of Divorcing MY EC Strat

jes i dont know what to do. I bought it new in 89 and always thought it was a tone god. Ive played it to death and always was happy with it until......

lately since about May Ive been only playing my Pauls and a few weeks ago I bought a new MIA blues boy. (talk about fat tone, this is it)

I took my strat to band practice a few times in the last week and it just wasent there any more. I popped in a new bat and still he tone wasent there . just sounded ehhh like the 24 nites CD

so last nite during the break I ran home for the LP

I know id be stupid to sell it but i dont think the love is there anymore esp after playing the Blues Boy which can raunch out and hold its own with any LP (thanks to the seth lover neck pup)
and at the same time still have the tele twang with the bridge and a strat tone in the middle, best of both worlds.

what the heck do I do now, just slide in under ther bed for a while maybe she'll come back to me....

or maybe swap out the whole PG for something new and exciting

any ideas, anyone fall out of love B4?

Put it away for a while. DON'T sell it! You'll regret it!

This happens to me all the time. I shift from guitar to guitar, and every week, I'm in love with a different one I've got!

Under the bed hold the stuff of dear dreams. Keep family in the family.
Look what I pulled out from under my bed? Custom made for me 10 years back, 1 3/4 wide flat neck, and more. I fell out of love with it, but no guitar stays closer to me when I sleep . Yup, under the bed! Thinking of selling it now, but have played it and only it for the last four days. I'd be silly to sell it. . I even use the Bigsby and it stays in tune! It is better than ever, but I do come and go as to wanting to play it or the others.

Keep your EC. The beauty of a Strat is all the modding you can do and undo so quickly. Hell, b uy another pickguard and pups. Make it an easy in/out change and have some fun. You can always go abck to stock. I did that with my mid Eighties '62 Reissue Strat. Took out the pickguard and pups, put in a whole EMG setup with a mother of toilet seat pickguard. Funny thing is, after 15 years, I've never gone back to stock, but it made me keep my guitar.

Before you file for divorce, have an affair with the EJ Strat.

Re: Thinking of Divorcing MY EC Strat

Why not trade it in for the superior Eric Johnson model? Probably'd cost maybe the EC + $100-150 for a nice EJ.

Re: Thinking of Divorcing MY EC Strat

I do not know....if at one time you loved the guitar, you should keep it for as long as it takes to at the least figure out why you loved it so much.....maybe do not play the guitar for 6 months and the pull her out and play her (more or less) as if she was your only guitar for about a month...

then i bet you will know exactly what to do

Re: Thinking of Divorcing MY EC Strat

Agreed! Everyone is right. You should not sell it. You should give it to me for a limited edition Fender Keychain I have. Actually it's not a limited edition. It's also not Fender. It's also not a key chain but picture I drew on parchment. Actually I didn't draw it my 4 year old daughter did. Also it's not on parchment. It's still not a key chain.

Listen, I want you guitar.

Wow, are you kidding? Cherish that old boy like an ol' friend. I think you will regret it if you sell it. I know I would.
