Tapping trouble with my les paul
So, I've been learning the VH classic Hot for Teacher and have run into an interesting problem when playing it on my les paul. I find that I have trouble muting the other strings when doing the intro tapping line. I think the hub of the issue is I like to kind of use my forearm to mute the E and A strings as I do the run and now the switch gets in the way.
I can do the intro pretty well on my Ibanez iceman and my schecter damien, but the les pauls switch just happens to be right in the way. Anyone else run into anything similar? And if so, what techniques do you use to cut down on extra string noise when doing long tapping runs? BTW I am using an EMG 81/85 set with a ts808 through a TSL 100 with a Quadraverb on the effects chain, so thats the kind of gain I'm dealing with. Any help or advice would be appreciated! Re: Tapping trouble with my les paul
Practice on a clean setting and once you get the run down then play overdriven

Re: Tapping trouble with my les paul
I actually figured out a way to do it which works pretty well, I adjust my strap so my neck is almost straight up, then I can mute the strings properly, it looks weird but what the hell. . .

Re: Tapping trouble with my les paul
Honestly i dont see how you have trouble tapping on a les paul unless you have some urge to pull your elbow in then justput your elbow more toward the bridge and itll clear your forearm from the switch
