a first for me on an acoustic

so during the daily grind i do deliveries for the booze store i work at and i went to one of the locals house and i noticed someone gave him an acoustic guitar that was being thrown out. the makers name was "prima" so im guessing it was a cheap starter guitar or sorts.
but the unusual thing is that the string tension started to pull on the body so much that it actually bent the top around the upper part of the body near the bridge.
now ive seen string tension do things to the bridge area and bow the neck but ive never seen it pull the whole body out.
i did notice a crack in the lacquer on the heel so im thinking that the heel might be broken allowing this odd bend to happen.
but has this happened to anyone else before? and is it fixable?

Re: a first for me on an acoustic

It's happened to my 12-string after a bunch of Norwegian winters. The weather, humidity, temperature and everything here changes more rapidly than you can ever imagine. It sounds more dead than it did when it was new, but is still useable, so.

Re: a first for me on an acoustic

this guitar was still "usable" but the action above the mid-high frets was almost an inch high.
