My first Fender!

Just picked up a MIM Fender Deluxe Stratocaster.

Honey Blonde with a Tortoise Shell PG.

Its an 01 with its fair share of battle scars. Can't give an accurate review right now because it is WAAAY out of adjustment. The neck is crap, luckily I have a spare Squier neck I'm gonna put on it til I can get a maple neck... but I am kind digging the rosewood. Also gotta swap out that Single coil sized bucker in the bridge for the original bridge pup.

Either way, I love the darn thing.

Re: My first Fender!

Nope, never even had a Squier.

I had an old Silverstone Strat Style Guit... it was awful.

I'm feeling an upgraded bridge (the saddles are corroded something awful), and one of Jonesy's tone kits... and putting that Vintage Noiseless back in the bridge.

Looks like fun. I'm really digging the single coil sound lately... probably cause my humbuckers sound muddy as hell through my headphone amp.

No, the pic is from the guy I bought the guitar from... I said in my first post that the neck was crap so I slapped a new one on it.

70s Style:

So I do think so, Quick-draw.

Anyway, I'll snap some new pics as soon as I get her adjusted to my liking.

sweet guitar!! just for your info, the stock singles in this guitar wouldnt have been the vintage noiseless. they were called "super fat" single coils. the vintage noiseless pickups came about when this series of deluxe guitars was upgraded to the "deluxe players strat" a couple of years ago.

I just pulled up a quick photo of a 70s shape.

The regular neck is junk, I put the squier neck on so I could play the guitar until I get my replacement neck.

Stock headstock is the small style, the squier is the large style, and my replacement neck will probably be the small style as well.

Sorry for the confusion. :P

Re: My first Fender!

Got her re-strung and setup... turns out the neck is a bit to tall in the pocket so I need to plane a little off of the base of the heel to get the action just right...

aside from that, I love this thing!!! Definitely found the sound I've been missing for so long

Re: My first Fender!

Nice! I love the fat, sustain of a set neck guitar with buckers, but you gotta give it to the strats man, they're something else!

pretty easy to fix

welcome to the world of Fender, you'll find you need to
play a fender a little different than a Gibson, you just
naturally adjust to it

Re: My first Fender!

Congrats! After years of only playing Gibson and Carvin, I finally broke down and bought a MIM Strat a couple of monts ago. Wow, I love the guitar. The neck is so fast and easy to play. I haven't played or gigged my Gibby LP VM since. I think I may get an MIA Strat next as I just came into some easy cash from a bonus at work. Do y'all thinks MIA Strats are worth the 1K+ price?

In my experience the American Fenders seem to hold up better over time. I owned a 90's MIM tele and I played it so much the darn thing started to fall apart!

Also, the USA models seem to have better resale value. I had a USA tele that I owned for 7 years and I made a few hundred off of what I paid for it new when I sold it.

Don't get me wrong, I like the MIM guitars. I own a Mexican 60's strat. I also have an 05 USA strat.
