SG makeover

As new here I start by saying hello!

Beeing a lefty player I have always had trouble finding good guitars. But years of searching ebay and japanese sights has payed of and resaulted in various Grecos and others.
As a true AC/DC faan I always wanted a brown SG standard.
But that has proved inpossible to find as a lefty.
So I bought a SG faded worn brown. And set to work.
I let the pics. do the talking

And here he is with the rest of the family, feeling right at home

Re: SG makeover

How come with lefty SG's, it looks like the horns are uneven, but on righty SG's they look even? Anyone else get that

It's the same with the rightys but I notice it more in the left handed ones too.

How did you do the inlays and what did you use for binding?

I wouldn't mind removing the dots and adding binding to my SG.

I bought some nice celluloid inlays on ebay.
I used the Dremmel with router base from Stewart-MacDonald: Everything for building and repairing stringed instruments!
I buoght some different bindings before I found one in the right color.
I didnīt like the Gibson binding I bougt because it looks to have to much red in it. Same as on all gibson standards. The one I used is more white. But I will put some tinted nitro cellulose paint over it later so it will look just right.

Re: SG makeover

how'd you deal with the inlay on the 12th? I've seen it done before where the dots had to be plugged first then the trapezoid routed. do you have pics?

I havnīt got any pics.
But I removed the dots and routed for trapetsoid.
Then I filled it out with the same colored glue i used for the new inlays.
It worked out great. It is almost exacltly the same color as the fretboard.

The horns are really uneven. Your dominant eye just sometimes plays tricks on you.
