Re: 59? 60? on ebay
If that is an old Les Paul, wouldn't the end of the neck tennon be visible in the neck pick up cavity?
I don't see it. cheers, Splat

Re: 59? 60? on ebay
Sorry, my bullshit detector is going off.
Bear with me, please, as I attempt to go through this logically. If it was a late 50s LP, it would have started life with a long tennon. That means the body would have been routed for a long tennon. That rout would go right into the neck pick up cavity. If it was re-necked, the new neck would either: 1. have a long tennon which would be visible in the cavity; or 2. have a short tennon. If the latter, then the rout for the long tennon would still be there, leaving either a bloody great hole, or a bloody great hole filled with an insert. Both would be visible in that cavity. In pic number 12 I don’t see: * a long tennon; or * a cavity where one used to be; or * a block inserted to fill the cavity where the long tennon was; or * any lines or marks from the neck leading into that cavity. It doesn’t look like any part of that neck - or its alleged predecessor - has ever protruded into that cavity. I don’t believe that this is a 1950s Les Paul. It's a very cool looking instrument, though. cheers, Splat

Re: 59? 60? on ebay
After getting a bunch of emails saying that it wasn't a 50's les paul, he will not gaurantee it's authenticity. He thinks the headstock face is original but, it is definately a 70's logo with typical bad inlay of the logo. I'm not sure what it is but, I don't think it's a 50's body. That thing is 70's, It looks alot like my 79' Les Paul K.M. or closer to a 80' Heritage. I have seen a few fake Heritage 80'S that were made to look like 50's pauls

Re: 59? 60? on ebay
It looks like a very nice relic job. Have a look at pic 6, showing the heel of the neck and the inside of the cut away. It's just too clean and tidy. My 1978 Standard is not that smooth, and that guitar has been lovingly cared for since 1987.
Relic, in my opinion. cheers, Splat

Re: 59? 60? on ebay
It looks like a heritage, mine has faded that much (although it's not checked in the same way)
It's short tennon, pointed horn, wrong inlays, nashville bridge (look at the posts in pic 3) so NOT '50's imo. Still looks like a cool LP, just not a 'burst. |

Re: 59? 60? on ebay
Yeah, I agree. If I were in the market for a Standard, I'd look at this fiddle. Not for $29 k, though. Maybe a tenth of that.
