hi all
i'm after a bit of info on the pg blues bare knuckle pups, a lot has been said about how good the out of phase tone is but i would like to know how the bridge/neck pubs handle when selected on there own?? i'm thinking of fitting them in my 58 vos les paul, if anyone can give some info on how they sound when driven hard, if any issues with feedback etc i would very much appreciate it. my first post

Re: bare knuckle pg blues info
Can't help you with the Bare knuckle ones but the ones from Shed " Nugget" a member here, are truly amazing, the Bridge is just so thick, the fatest bridge Pick up I've ever had and the neck is really creamy, they are superb.
By the way Welcome, as a Brit you should join the Limey Lounge. Good luck By the way I have the BK mules which are Ok but I'm not really a great fan of BK , but hey each to their own. If you check the pick up section of the forum, you will find I asked the PG question last week as there are quite a few out there. Nuggets are great though and a really nice guy to deal with. Welcome and I hope you find what you are looking for. |

Re: bare knuckle pg blues info
welcome, and not a million miles from Phil - most expensive place to live apparently Poole...
There has been quite a lot written about the bk greeny pups recently, if you do a search for peter green you'll find loads of info. Also if youre feeling flush check out WB's 67 peter green pups, better in my opinion for the out of phase sound, and fantastic in both other positions..., youll find sound clips on those around this site... enjoy... and welcome again...

More importantly it's whatever your Guitar likes. I heard some BK's in a old 70s Les |Paul and they sounded fantastic , I put them in mine and they sounded really thin. I have the Shed Supernaturals and all I can say is they won't be coming out, I really am knocked over by the sound from the bridge and Neck pick -up on their own. I bought them for the PG Sound, which is great by the way but the individual pick ups also sound some fat buttery smooth, I was almost playing jazz On the BK front Johnbeloe says he loves his BK's so there you have it. I'm sure you will see the forum for what it is, you can ask what is 2+2 and you will get 50 different answers to make 4, it's what makes it fun, you will also then make up your own mind. None of the P G's are bad they're just different if you see what I mean Have fun.

I'm quite often to be found in Sandbanks during the hols. Share a place on Shore Road. Wonderful place. Hope it never gets washed away.

Re: bare knuckle pg blues info
That's one event I failed to get to every time. Usually my time in Poole is spent catching up with relatives on the wife's side, and as much fishing as possible.

Re: bare knuckle pg blues info
They are unpotted.
I don't even have clips myself right now as I can't play at the moment. Very bad left index finger injury. I am hoping to do a video demonstration of these when the finger gets better as it's important for people to see exactly how they work. |

Re: bare knuckle pg blues info
hi nugget, with Supernaturals being unpotted my only worry is feedback when being driven very hard, have you or anyone else encountered any problems with this? also is the pickup change over straight forward or is there some wiring changes made? i only ask this as i would take the guitar in to my local music shop for the work.
cheers

Re: bare knuckle pg blues info
Hi Trooper I just had my JTM 45 really wound up with Supernaturals and no problems,
I don't have many potted pick ups and never have problems with squeal PS if you ask Nugget nicely maybe he would solder them in for you if you can find him some nice fishing in Poole!

Re: bare knuckle pg blues info
They're a straight swap for existing pickups. I use a Mesa F50 when I can play. I've never had a feedback issue with them and I do like to take heads off now and then.

Re: bare knuckle pg blues info
Nice playing John, especially from someone playing for such a short time.
Guitar sounds great I like Dennis's work his amps are first rate. He uses some strange but clever wiring techniques inside which make really good sense if you think about it, which is generally why his amps are so operationally quiet. Is your Guitar a Classic inlays look a bit green in the video . It looks like aged tuners too. you should put your clip up here, well done

Re: bare knuckle pg blues info
sorry Trooper. It's going to be months before I can play again. I managed 3 chords so far which isn't going to make for a great video demo.
