Re: SG w/3 single coils
That's a very nice loking guitar!
Frank Marino did that back in the '70s.......he gutted an SG Jr. and added 3 single coils. This is a more recent shot. Frank Marino Northern Lights Theatre 9/21/07 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Re: SG w/3 single coils
It sounded pretty good through my old princeton today. It was the first time I got to crank it up. Got to get it shielded though. Sorry I can't describe in detail the sound/tone, all I can say is I'm keeping it!

Re: SG w/3 single coils
How does the pickup selection work? how many pups can you combine? I'm wondering if it might sound a lot thinner than an SG Special with P90's. Post some sound clips if you can. I noticed that yours is more of a SG Std body type, very good looking guitar, better looking than the SG Special type, like in the sunburst pic.

Re: SG w/3 single coils
It's proper name is, Guitar of the Week/Week-10/SG Standard w/3 Single Coil Pickups. The switch is a 6 position, Bridge, Bridge-Mid, Middle, Mid-Neck, Neck, Bridge-Neck. I've been playing it through my Princeton turned up to 8 and it sounds pretty good. I don't think it and the Fire Burst have a Mahogany body. I want to say the FB's was made of Alder, but I'm not sure about the black one. I think it was Alder too. I saw the Black one on Sweetwater for $800something, My local shop has the FB for $900, I got mine on sale last December for $650+tax.

Re: SG w/3 single coils
That would be a cool guitar.
I wanted a hollow body with 3 P90s, so went with this one: A toggle for each makes every sound worthwhile: ![]()
