Scored a new ASAT Blues Boy.
I waited a while for the honeymoon to end b4 I posted this critique so not to be blind sided with a new toy
I went into my local mom and pop store a few weeks ago looking for strings The last thing i wanted or needed was another geetar. Ive played these over the years and knew what they felt and sounded like, but I had no interest in spending the $1399 or more To keep a long story short as im walking out I see a red blow out sign dangling from the pots. So as a joke I called the owner over thinking he was going to say something like $1350 or so He ruffled thru some papers and told me $1095. So he plugged it in for me and I noodled around for about 10 minutes with great happiness to what i heard comming out of the amp in my next breathe I ask if it was used. he said no and my next three words were "I'll take it" I still cant belive that I bought this thang I took it home set it up and havent put it down since. It has a seth Lover HB in the neck which is smooth and thick w/o the mud. it has a G&L MFD SC in the birdge. This pup is equally great. Real tele tone but fattens up with a small nudge of the tone pot. The neck is rosewood and really quick The pots are smooth and going from like 10 to 9 makes a huge difference It has a 3 ply PG and really smooth Sperzle tuners and hasent gone out of tune yet I can get great tones working the 3 way switch. It Plays great clean and can handle OD up to like AC DC stuff. For what I play its the almost perfect axe sorry for all the finger smuges lol but its a working mans toy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Scored a new ASAT Blues Boy.
I've played these axes, as well as the import "Tribute" version and the semi-hollow versions in both American and import. I have a friend who owns a music store about 5 minutes from my house and he's a G&L dealer. I play them all the time at his store.
I agree with everything you say. they are KILLER blues axes. I especially like the semi hollows. It all all the feeling of a 335 with more of a bite from the bridge pup. The Seth Lover is a terrific pup. I'm thinking of installing one in my LP. Enjoy your guitar, brother. You got a good one. |
