PRS Help

So I was playing earlier today and everything was fine, but tonight when I went to play... things were a whole different story. (btw when I mention positions I mean 1 to be Bridge humbucker and 5 to be neck humbucker)

For some reason my Custom 24 no longer sounds the same. The middle position on the 5 way sounds very quiet with a kind of hollow tone, as if I'd rolled down the volume almost all the way on position 2. Now position 2 sounds almost exactly like full-on bridge humbucker, and 5/neck humbucker sounds the same as pos. 4.

Any idea what might have happened? I'm confused as all the guitar has done all day is sit comfy in its case. This is irritating because right now this is my only main guitar at my disposal, and I've had this Custom for less than half a year to boot.

If I need a new switch it may be a pain in the neck....

Re: PRS Help

Maybe. What's really weird now, is that I discovered that in the middle position...the tone control is acting like a second volume. I'm thoroughly confused.

Re: PRS Help

well seems like something is touching, in several places(i could be wrong). But this is the most reasonable answer if it was working fine before.

Would it be best to have it rewired more neatly by a tech or is there some sort of homegrown solution I can take to getting everything un-crossed?

has the 5 position switch become loose, and you've somehow turned the pot and caused a wire to short out maybe???

Re: PRS Help

I've got a Custom 24 with a 5-way rotary switch ...
The rotary switch offers alot of different tones BUT, I've also noticed a significant drop in volume when going to a single coil configuration.
That's always been an issue with mine.
