Re: The Derek Trucks Burst ...

Didn't he borrow that one? I think a collector brought it to a show, and I've seen shots of Warren using it too.
Anyway,if he did buy it-------here's the tone and playing.

Re: The Derek Trucks Burst ...

Hey that first picture is at the Telluride Blues Festival! I stood in that exact spot and watched most of the bands that weekend. Unfortunately I had to get home and didnt see Derek and Etta James. I did however see, Susan, John Hiatt, Govt Mule, Joan Osborne, Big Sams Funky Nation, and let see who else. Oh yeah Back Door Slam too. Dang, what a weekend.

Re: The Derek Trucks Burst ...

I hate to play devils advocate... Maybe its the computer speakers. I am not impressed with the sound coming from that clip. Its sounds really tinny and weak. I am sure its got to be the speakers. I listen to Bonamassa play slide on you tube and it sounds fantastic. So other that that being a beautiful guitar played thru a fantastic amp.... I dunno whats the hype.

Well, I saw Derek play the Burst for the encore at a show last month and it didn't sound 'tinny and weak.' Not by a long shot.

Re: The Derek Trucks Burst ...

Big problem with guitars, recording and the internet, what you hear is not what was played... I grew up on Led Zep bootlegs where I thought Page had mediochre tone. Turns out the bootlegs were mediochre, but I'm assured "How The West Was Won" is much closer to how it sounded on the night.

Similarly, still waiting for the engineer that can capture exactly what I'm after. You have to be there... Only way to hear great guitar tone is in the same room as the guitar.

reallly awesome playing when I saw the first picture i thought "CHRIST DEREK LOOKS SO DIFFERENT THEN LAST TIME I SAW HIM" haha, the sound I hear sounds very trebly to me but its most defiantly cause of the camera.
