Just to get this started !
You've all had sand kicked in your faces by the other forums for owning a different Looking Les Paul . Ellis Island and The Statue of Liberty " Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breath free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door! Emma Lazurus, 1883 " This Forum and members will be true to these words ! Here is an early 64 ,SG,63 appointments, Nickel Hardware & Rare Original PAFS ! This is not my guitar, but I sold him the original Paf covers. Notice the great inlays and fingerboard. He sent me these great picts . Yes I'm breaking the rules . Flick - Please move it if necessary . ![]() ![]() ![]()

SG
wow that really is a beautiful SG. Very nice indeed - the control panel at the back weakens the area - just like the truss rod nut cavity weakens the headstock. When you've got a thin bit of wood, you get an easy to break area. A few knocks and that whole botton side can break - often being held on by just the control panel cover.

Re: OK all of you Les Paul SG People Bringum on !:0)
another very tasteful SG. Totally dig the white finish (nothing wrong with cherry either) - really looks the part with a pair of P90s.
I got a late sixties SG special, and I love it. I'll have to try and take as nice a picture to post here. I'd really like a black Custom with gold hardware. Just a shame the gold doesn't stay gold for long |

Re: OK all of you Les Paul SG People Bringum on !:0)
I bought it off Ebay. It was stained brown and had 4 chrome coffe table legs bolted on ( just kidding you there but you wouldn't be suprised...?).
The owner had taken some reasonable photos and you could see polaris white paint in the pickup routes and control cavity. Naturally I paid bugger-all for it and restored it to it's former glory. The paint is genuine polaris nitro and relic'ed itself very swiftly. The P90's you see on it are my own make. I even made the covers for the P90s. It's really light, has never had a neck break and is so sweet sounding that I find it hard not to take it along to gigs that I normally use a Strat for. The trem is not original, nor are the tuner buttons. |

Captain Tightpants, just a thought about your P90 problem on another thread.
(Not wanting to step on Dave Stephen's toes) Some early P90 bobbins were made with black perspex. I still think you should drrop fill the cracks with superglue. You can easily remove any overspill with fine grades of sand paper. Gluing fish paper on the top will hold it but will be pretty ugly to look at and kill it's value dead. |

Re: OK all of you Les Paul SG People Bringum on !:0)
Guys, apologies, I may have misled you when I casually said I restored it. I should really have said that I paid an expert to restore it. I was going to do it all myself but my missus thought I had better things to do.
So apart from the P90's it was refinished by Dave Dearnaley who I would trust with any guitar. I actually gave him his own space on my website because I think people should know about him. He's not really big on self-promotion; way too modest for that. Dave's a blues player who's been making guitars for 30 years. It was only about 2 years ago that he was talked into submitting 2 guitars for a review. The reviewer bought one of those guitars for himself. Anyway, I love Spinal Tap. Let's do it

...no not really...The Captain is right...they actually were renamed in '59 I think, for sure in '60...nearly all of the '59's still had the silkscreened Les Paul special on the headstock...all but a few 1960 ones do not have a silkscreen...
