Finally earned a spot on this forum

Hi, i bought my first LP a few weeks ago, it's a Gibson Studio, I got alpine white, with gold hardware. It's a big upgrade over my Ibanez GRG.

I just have a few questions about the LP world, what does R2-R0 mean, i see people on this forum saying that they have R8s and what not and im just super confused. Second, should i get some guitar polishes (or what ever they are) for my paul? Thats about it for now.

As for polish, if you want a shiny guitar go ahead and get some.

The R thing is "Reissue" R8 = Reissue '58
etc
R0 is Reissue '60
G0 is Reissue Guitar Center Exclusive 1960

The finishes they use these days are pretty robust. As long as you're not spilling solvents on it or dinging the hell out of it it should hold up fine.

A spot here does not have to be 'earned'. All that is necessary is a computer and a keyboard.
