Tele Thinline necks: '69 vs. '72

There are two Fender Tele Thinlines being marketed now. I've tried the '72 version with the humbuckers and I think it feels absolutely superb, especially the neck. I'm in a bit more keen on the single-coil version, the '69 version, but haven't yet found a place that has one to try.

Do the '69 versions have the same neck as the '72 versions? Are the pickups the only difference between the two versions, or are there other differences as well?

Thanks.

Re: Tele Thinline necks: '69 vs. '72

The 72 has a C shape and a three bolt neck plate, the 69 has a U shape and four bolt neck. If there are any classic 70s strats in shops to try , well they have the same U shape as the 69.
One thing about the 69 when compared to the other vintage single coil teles (classic 50s,60s, MIA 52) is that the pots are 1meg and the caps? they sound a lot brighter than the other vintage one with 250 pots. The tuners are Shaller on both I think. Nice guitars. The 72 has 1 meg pots as well some like the extra brightness some put 500 pots in the 72.

The bridges are different as well the 72 a strat style and the 69 reg 3 saddle tele thing.
& the 72 has the micro tilt adjustment.

The 72 is offerd in only 2 finish options and only ash body

The 69 ASH only offered in three colour burst
Mahogany body on the other colours.

That's very insightful. Thanks for sharing all the differences aren't immediately apparent to the eye. Really appreciate it!
