Jay Turser Paisley Tele
I've been doing searches, and I seem to be getting inconsistent opinions on Jay Turser guitars. I was eyeing up the paisley Tele, because a) I was looking for an inexpensive guitar I could mod up for fun, and b) it's a paisley guitar, for God's sake.
I'd love to butcher up a reasonable, underrated guitar and make it better, but I'd rather do it with a guitar that's decent to start with, not some rubbish wooden heap. I can't get a clear idea as to whether the Jay Turser guitars fall more in the former or the latter. Anyone got any opinion to share? Cheers. |

Never had one... I think they fall into the camp as every other guitar out there. Play as many as you can and get the one that calls to you the most... or take generous liberty with Musician's Friend's 45-return policy.

Re: Jay Turser Paisley Tele
Buying one of these things would entail buying it sight unseen, ear unheard. No dealers local to me, and let's face it, internet prices being so low is half the appeal.
I'm just interested to know if I'm simply throwing money out the window here or if this is something I can work with. I wouldn't put a turbocharged V8 in a Pinto, but I might put it in an El Camino, if that makes sense. |

Well, if you can get one really cheap I'd go for it... if you don't mind laminate, plywood bodies... I could be wrong but I believe most Jay Turser Electrics are this way.

Re: Jay Turser Paisley Tele
Hey now. I am definitely not cool with a plywood body. I wasn't under the impression that these Jay Turser guitars were made of plywood. Their website simply says "solid body", which I suppose in hindsight doesn't mean whole hell of a lot.
If they really do sport plywood bodies, I'm out. Thanks for the heads-up. |

Re: Jay Turser Paisley Tele
No prob, just remember, laminate doesn't necessarily mean plywood, it just means that there's a bunch of thin pieces glued together...
but they're usually like a plywood... Some Squires are this way, I think the Epi Jr (bolt ons) are also this way. Take a look online for jay turser pickup cavity shots, you shoudl be able to tell from there.
