Re: SG '61 Reissue

Haven't seen it vary much among SG's.

My 61 is not out of the norm.

Heck, even my SG 12 is not really any different.

Re: SG '61 Reissue

Get an Historic with the maestro trem and it will add some heft to the body.

Re: SG '61 Reissue

I'm not sure exactly what its weight is but it isn't that heavy. In fact I just held one today. My guess is around 5 lbs.

Re: SG '61 Reissue

They vary like any other guitar, but the average is probably 7 1/2 lbs.

Re: SG '61 Reissue

My SG Standard must be considered a tank then at 8 lbs 2 oz.
I haven't weighed it yet, but my Custom Shop SG has got to be under 7 lbs.

Re: SG '61 Reissue

I owned a 1991 '61 reissue, I don't know the exact weight but I can say that it was light.

If you like a heavy guitar, this may not be the way to go. The neck is super slim too. I really liked it, it played and sounded great, but it sure wasn't chunky or heavy!

Ditto. My Elliot Easton is NOT neck heavy and has an early '60's 335 slim neck. Awesome beast. A regular Historic may have a slightly thicker neck though, I'm not sure. But the trem adds to the tone, cool factor and weight. Nice pieces these.

Re: SG '61 Reissue

An SG is not really a heavy guitar to begin with. My 61 historic is prolly in the 7lb range.
