recommendations for a resonator?

hope this is in the right place

hey all, Im going to be in the market for a resonator soon, and would like some recomendations from those of you who own one or have a lot of experience with them. best quality vs price, good tone (obviously), playibility, and durablity (needs to last!) are the main points of interest here.

I plan to play a lot of slide on it (duh) and I like the look of the all metal ones. Though the few ive gotten to play have all been made of wood.

my budget is around $900-$1000. dont really want to go too far over. but if it has good reviews ill consider it. feel free to post things lower than range as well.

Thanks for the help guys and gals.

Ekoms

Re: recommendations for a resonator?

I've been in the market for one as well. These looked interesting: Republic Guitars

Take care,

Re: recommendations for a resonator?

It all depends on how much you want to spend , but in truth you can't get much better than these

, I can take some more pics when the weather gets better if you want

that's my "fine resophonic"

Re: recommendations for a resonator?

Find a used Dobro DM-33, they don't make 'em anymore.

Skip the one made by Fender, absolutely no comparison.

Re: recommendations for a resonator?

those resophonics sure are expensive, a bit too rich for my blood i think.

im not looking to spend more than $1000. I dont need a super top of the line one either. just one that sounds good and plays well.

i looked on ebay neoconman, but nothing came up. any ideas where to find one?

thanks guys

Re: recommendations for a resonator?

Hmmmm....
No, Ebay would have been my first guess.

My dealer has one from the eighties, but they want well over $2,000 for it.
They did engraved ones that cost alot more than the etched finish ones.
