Boss Multi-Effects pedals

Ok, Ive been looking into getting either the boss ME-20 or ME-50.
Any opinions, pics, warnings? Is it great, or cringe-worthy?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Boss Multi-Effects pedals

Re: Boss Multi-Effects pedals

Yeah multi-effects pedals are a really good value. I would look into the Digitech RP series, they've worked for me REALLY good, but I haven't tried to the Boss ones. I'm sure they are good pedals. Go to try them out at a store and see if you like the sound.

Re: Boss Multi-Effects pedals

I would go for the ME-50; but if I had a little more money, I would definitely pick up the GT10. It's awesome multi-effects pedal.

Re: Boss Multi-Effects pedals

I've heard great things about the GT-10, but it's wayyyyyyyyy more than I need. I got a Digitech RP350 and it suits me fine.

Re: Boss Multi-Effects pedals

I just sold off an ME-20 in the classifieds.

I loved it, tho I needed a new amp. I didn't use half of the effects that it had, but it was a really good value.

I know someone who has a GT6 or something and they say its amazing; but it looks like too many buttons for me.

Re: Boss Multi-Effects pedals

I tried a few lately, including the GT10. I wanted real badly to like it, but no go. You need an engineering degree to use those things, went back to my pedal board after trying different rack effects for two weeks and now I'm happy again...

Re: Boss Multi-Effects pedals

The ME series seems really simple, but Ive heard complaints that the effects sound too digital. Anyone know about this?

Re: Boss Multi-Effects pedals

I just bought the ME-20 and really like it. It does sound digital, but I'm ok with that. The variety is great for the $200 price tag. I recommend you try one out at your local store before you buy it. It is eay to figure out in less than 10 minutes.

Oh ok thanks. I havent gone to guitarcenter lately though because they ripped me off. There arent any nearby shops either that I know of that carry Boss equipment.

Re: Boss Multi-Effects pedals

I have used the GT-6 for a few years now. It is good but I'm now leaning toward going the individual pedal route because it's easier to tweak your sound in a hurry. I got the GT because it was a whole lot cheaper than buying all of the pedals I wanted but honestly I don't use that many effects when I play so it's kinda overkill. I have a few channels that I programmed and always use it in manual mode so I can turn certain effects on and off with the footswitches instead of having to try to remember where a certain sound is on a bunch of different channels.

Re: Boss Multi-Effects pedals

i have the me-50. its more than i ever need. i dont like the wah as much as my crybaby, but i do like all of the OD options. it does have some drawbacks, but i think its worth the pricetag.

Re: Boss Multi-Effects pedals

I have the Boss GT6. It's a nice piece of equipment. It's very involved, but once you keep using it, you'll know your way around and how to use it (and how to use a lot of the effects effeciently).
