My new ES 335
Hey everyone I just picked my first but definitely not last Gibson ES 335. This perhaps the best playing guitar I have ever owned and the custom shop did a fantastic job with it.

Re: My new ES 335
The Sam Ash here in San Antonio just became a fully authorized Gibson dealer so they just received a rather large shipment. They were only allowed to deal Historics for a while. Besides the burst they also had a really great looking cherry one. Also I was further pleased to find out that this guitar left the factory on 9/15/08 on the checklist card. I could not be happier with it. Being a jazz, blues, rock, and even country player at times, I find it difficult to find a guitar that can match all styles but I think I found it.

Re: My new ES 335
Welcome to the 335 club. My burst is similar but w/out the red tint. I put gold top-hats on it for a 60s vibe. I just tried the top-wrap method on mine.

Re: My new ES 335
The burst in person does not seem to have any red or as much in the pictures. My photography skill are rather limited. I think for right now I will leave it stock. Might get some different tuners about thats about it cause this guitar is already just soo sweet.

Re: My new ES 335
Thanks everyone for the compliments, it really is a special guitar. I just can not say enough positive things about it. While Gibson makes many other fantastic guitars I think that the ES 335 is quite unique and possibly the most versatile guitar that Gibson offers. Everyone from Alex Lifeson in Rush to B.B. King to Robben Ford and Mr.335 himself Larry Carlton. The 335 really can be used in so many applications. I promise to put up some more pics really soon. To anyone out there considering a ES 335, I would have to say "Do It!". I had never played until I tried mine out and was blown away.

Re: My new ES 335
Howdy,
ES-335s are versatile! I've used mine for down & out smokey Blooze (think "Stranded, caught in the crossfire" by Stevie Vaughn) to Buck Owens C&W ( crystal clean clarity, with body and depth of tone) and she handles each with aplomb. My 1979 model also plays like warm butter, it's set up so nicely. It's SD '59s are fantastic, just wish I'd have ordered them with covers; my 335 would then look as good as she sounds ![]() Eggman PS: Congrats, Funkyguitarman!
