Re: Gary Rossingtons Les Paul
Really amazing...there's a ton of history to that guitar. It looks like it has a Tone Pros tailpiece.
Can anybody tell if those are Sperzel or Schaller tuners? I understand these day's he's playing a newer one. After his heart surgery, he couldn't take the weight any more.

Re: Gary Rossingtons Les Paul
Here you go! Number 180, and one of only four lefty Rossingtons made. Go to my sub-forum, The Rossington Owner's Club to see more of them. The link is below.

Re: Gary Rossingtons Les Paul
Mine is THE most toneful guitar that I've ever had, right out of the box. (that includes an original left handed 1954 gold top I owned). I can't help tinkering with my guitars, so I installed vintage PAFs, which sound a whole lot better than the stock Burstbuckers. I also installed 50s pots and caps, which helped too. As far as value goes, it's nice to know that these guitars have appreciated, but I can't imagine what kind of offer someone would have to make to get me to sell mine. She's a keeper!

Re: Gary Rossingtons Les Paul
My own opinion is that the appeal of these guitars is more for their realistic look, than the connection to Gary Rossington. No dissrespect intended, as I'm a big fan, but simply put, these guitars look more like a real 50s burst than anything Gibson has issued so far. The fact that many owners have removed the gold hardware proves this to be true. I read somewhere recently that the lacquer used was different than what they normally use. I don't remember how it differed, but this was the word from Tom Murphy himself, and might explain why they seem to be more resonant than usual.
Edit: I went back and revisited the source of the lacquer comment, and Tom Murphy refers to it as "old lacquer", not really sure what that means.

Re: Gary Rossingtons Les Paul
Remember, The GR Lester has a Brazilian fretboard too! Man, put a set of real PAf's in that with some aged pots and caps, pure nirvana.

Re: Gary Rossingtons Les Paul
Jet Engine Sound in Japan has one for sale currently. IIRC, the price is around $10,000.00 USD. JetEngineSound
