Hi! I'm new to this site and am still trying to figure out how to get around. It doesn't help that I am 52 years old and have only used a computer for a couple of years now.I am as much of a fan of Les Paul the man as the L.P. guitar.I have always liked Les Paul guitars, until injuries to both shoulders forced me to consider lighter brands.I do have a solid body single cut away
mahogany back, maple top guitar that I play when my shoulders can take it. It is a Korean made Guild called a "De Armond M-75."It has a nice antique sunburst finish,BEAUTIFUL sounding American made "Gold-Tone" humbucker pickups,4-knob controls,3-way sw.The main difference between the M-75 and L.P. is that instead of a stop tailpiece,It has the old style Guild "harp" suspended tailpiece like the Guild Aristocrat. The first thing that I do when I buy a guitar (listen up Les Paul owners) is remove the plastic pick guard and that stupid round plate under the 3-way switch. This gives the Les Paul a much cleaner look.I mean, face it,unless you play like Pete Townshend you will never scratch the pickguard, let alone the wood that is a full 1/2 " below it. You will want to save these in case that you ever (heaven forbid) want to sell it.I like to see beautiful wood grain on my guitars, not plastic. That is why I have never liked Fenders. I do have a Fender semi hollow T-C 90 Thinline with S.Duncan soapbar pick ups.Thank goodness I was able to remove the pickguard and expose the beautiful Black cherry stained ash body.I did have to put the screws back in,as Fender so thoughtfully counter-sunk the holes. I come out of the Johnny Winter-Rory Gallagher school of playing.A tube amp and a guitar is all that I use.No effects or pedals.I also like Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks,The late great Micheal Howser(Widespread Panic)Adrian Belew, Alan Morse(Spocks Beard) I grew up playing with the Morse brothers in L.A. Steve Morse(different family,Dixie Dregs)Pete Frampton(Humble Pie days)and of course Robben Ford,Marc Ford,Trey Anastacio,Eric Clapton,Santana,Vince Gill,Albert Lee,Alvin Lee,Brad Paisley,David Hidalgo(Los Lobos) Rick Derringer, and a whole slew of great guitarists out there that I can't think of right now.KEEP PLAYING!!! |

Re: Hello all, glad to be here!
Welcome to the forum! Enjoy your stay.
I used to have a DeArmond M75t. Loved it! It was champagne sparkle. Looked like this: ![]() Lost it in an apartment fire a few years back along with a DeArmond M70. The M70 had the same pups as your M75. Nice sounding guitar. |
