Yippie Ki Yay Motherf**kers.
Hi!
I'm Dave, The Golden Boy! I like candlelit dinners, long walks off short piers, and the old Muhammed Ali cartoon series. Actually, the only thing I remember about that cartoon is when their airplane broke and they couldn't fix it because they didn't have a block and tackle- but Muhammed Ali flexes his biceps and says "here's my block and here's my tackle." And they fixed the airplane. Let's flex our biceps. Let's sling that strap low. Let's crank the 'post' volume... Let's fix that airplane. Together. |

Re: Yippie Ki Yay Motherf**kers.
Thanks for the Welcomes guys!
Whoa. I started playing bass around 1979/80 or so because I wanted to be Paul McCartney. My folks weren't into the "rock" thing, and I can't seem to think of a good reason why a 9/10/11 year old kid would want to be Paul McCartney in 1979 or so... Maybe it was "Coming Up." I started playing guitar sometime after Billy Squier's Don't Say No came out, I think I remember "My Kinda Lover" was hot at the time. I've always been more of the "bass player that plays guitar" rather than the other way around, and it really shows in my guitar playing. So... while I was gigging in my first high school band in 86 or so- I only played a handful of gigs from 87-91 when I started gigging out with my first "real" band. |

Re: Yippie Ki Yay Motherf**kers.
Welcome to the forums!! Nice basses and guitars...particularly that
'65 Jazz ![]() I'm also more of a bass player at heart, but guitar ranks a very close second for me. Check out the "Bass Players Too" in the social groups section. It might be right up your alley. |

![]() ![]() Interesting thing about it- from what I can tell, it used to be Fiesta Red, but it was very poorly refinished on New Year's Day in 1972. There's still the brush strokes clearly visible in the lacquer- but it's also part of the "charm" of the instrument- that the early 70s was a time when those natural colors were cool, and the owner of the bass back then was proud enough of his work to sign and date it. It's also cool that it was redone that shitty so that I'm not afraid to play it and wreck the finish...
