Value Question

A White 1979 Gibson EDS-1275 has popped up for sale in my area and I was wondering how much a reasonable offer is?

I dunno... Good dealers like Centre City Music, Wildwood, or Guitar Sale can do much better than that. I'm not sure about the worth of a '79, but I'd be willing to bet a new one will be much higher quality.

This is bad, they are pricing people like me (15 Years Old) who have good paying jobs out of the market. I bought from a local shop and saved $800 on the R8, so I payed $2,600 right before GC raised there prices. I'm not sure what my local shop charges on the EDS-1275 now.

Does anyone have a number on the '79 to throw out there? Assuming it's in really good condition and assuming it plays really well. If it doesn't I won't consider it. It was made in Norlin era right? So quality varied.

A 1979 EDS in GOOD shape is probably worth nearly what a new one is.
That's why I bought mine new in 2006 - I had been shopping used ones for two years.

They hold their value extremely well.

I would pay $2,500 in a heartbeat for a NICE 1979 model with no flaws or issues.

The MSRP is $4,939.00 - $5,624.00.
But we all know that price is complete BS just so it looks like you're getting it for a deal at $3,799 - $3,999.

$3,799 - $3,999 IS the list price, as far as I'm concerned.

Of course...there's always this one I saw in NYC.

Damn... I don't have that much lol. This just kinda came up, a local guy is selling his '79 I just figured I'd take a look since I want an EDS-1275 eventually anyway and if I can get a deal now, why not?

He said it's in great condition with the exception of a stain on the back from the previous owner. He will send me pictures soon, I'll post them for you to look at. He has the original case which will be included. I'm trying to set up an appointment to go play it, I'll keep you all updated.

He also said a guy offered him $2,500 and he accepted but the guy couldn't come up with the cash so he's moving on. I'd like to get it cheaper than that depending on the condition in the pictures and how it plays when I go see it.
