Strat Clean: I was struck just today at how killer Knofler's tone on Sultans of Swing is..makes my list!

Strat Gainy: Dont think ive ever heard a better gainy tone than this one...I cant say enough about his playing and tone..it inspires me!

They are all great players but I'm not in love with any of their tones. I can think of stuff I prefer new and old compared to these guys.

it was a hard pick for me...they all externilized their tones so profoundly...so I went with Blackmore to be the black sheep of the poll...I did think hendrix was going to do better the stevie but, then again how can one really pick...they were all so true to themselves
