Dropped off my hardtail Strat at Luthier's
I took the plunge and finally dropped off my 79 hardtail Strat off to get worked on. I have had the damn thing since like 91. I have abused it, left it in a closet and have all around treated it like crap. Hey, I was young.
I am getting it set up (the first guitar I have really every had a pro set up done), getting the frets dressed, bone nut installed, new pick guard, new pick up covers and new knobs. I am pretty excited. I get it back either Friday or Saturday. I will post pics when I get it back. Once pick it up I am dropping off my VM Les Paul to get set up. Also pretty excited about that one. mark |

Re: Dropped off my hardtail Strat at Luthier's
Cool, a 70's hardtail! My friend lent me hers for a weekend - a '77 in walnut brown - and man that thing was a beast! Sounded great and was heavy as hell, too. I know Fender's QC was weak during that era but some of those guitars were still great.

I sure hope you're keeping all the original parts.

Oh yeah, I'm keeping the old parts. Not that I will ever sell it, but I will keep the originals just in case.
And yes, that guitar is a monster. It is quite a bit heavier than my VMLP. I am picking up my Strat tomorrow afternoon. I am pretty excited. I will post pics once I get home with it tomorrow. Mark |

Re: Dropped off my hardtail Strat at Luthier's w/Pics
After a trip out of town and several setbacks I got my Strat back last friday. I ended having to get one of pots replaced and the bridge pickup rewound. I can say that the guitar plays so much better than it ever has. A bone nut was installed, the frets dressed, a full set up and all that jazz. I am pretty excited about it. I took it to band practice Friday night and ended up playing it all night and kept my Les Paul in the case. In fact, I dropped off the Les Paul to get set up too. Pretty awesome. Well, here are pictures.
