Re: Lets see those Highway One's!

Highway one's are GREAT!!!!

Also they have great nitro finishes!!

Someone told me that it is nitro over poly, but even if it is the ones I have played were great

Re: Lets see those Highway One's!

I gotta tell you guys, I played about 10 different Teles today (literally!). From a Classic Custom Shop tele, 52' Hot Rod, Am. Deluxe, 08' American, a couple of MIK Tele's that looked sweet, a Squier Vintage Modified HS Tele, and a vintage sunburst Highway One. All had maple necks. THE HIGHWAY ONE was the absolute most playable and had the most comfortable feel IMO!!!!!! The American Deluxe was absolutely jaw dropping in the looks and feel department, sounded good, but if anything maybe too fancy to me, and I liked the neck feel even better on the Highway One. I love its understated looks, and the OVERSIZED FRETS make this guitar. The pickups suit my style more as well. And its $500 less!!!!!! Well, $400 less after you buy a HSC, which I would. This guitar just ripped. Was as loud as my LP unplugged, screamed plugged in, great cleans, PERFECT finish, and perfect fretwork. I can't say enough about this axe, home run!!! If I get a Tele this is the one for sure!

That is pretty much how I acquired my Tele. Tried every one they had in the store, and this one, pic below, simply blew all the others away. Great guitar, fantastic feel and tone. The only thing that bugs me is why couldn't they use 10 cents worth of tint on the neck!! Yeah I know, differentiate the low cost models.

The colour is more undercoat pink than blonde that shows in pic, still a lovely guitar nonetheless.

Rick.

Take a look at mine, the tint is only from the sun.
The HWY was the exact same tint as the Paisley next to it.

Did you put the Tele in the sun on purpose to tint the neck or does it hang in a sunny position in your house? Only heard of guys here putting their LPs in the sun to fade the red, never knew it worked on necks.

Rick.
Hung it outside on purpose.

Re: Lets see those Highway One's!

I agree with you guys.

I ALWAYS loved the Highway-1's, before I really knew about Telecasters and Fenders in general, they always spoke to me as a great value.

Especially when I picked mine up for $570 BRAND NEW w/ a gig-bag, etc...

I need to get a digital camera so I can get pics of all my axes. I have been saying this since day 1 of me being on this forum!

Thanks Cross Roads, can I ask, about how long did you leave it out in the sun to get it that colour?

Rick.
This late spring and early summer (around 12 weeks?) 2-3 days a week in the evening for 2-4 hours and then on weekends for 8-12 hours/day. Temps from 65 to 80 or so. I didn't really keep track.

Thank you very much for the info Cross Roads, Spring will be here soon, so my HWY 1 will be getting some sun to darken her anaemic looking neck.

Rick.

It is true. It is nitro over poly or 'Fullerplast'. I stripped one down, and tried to sand the body. Whatever was under the nitro was hard as NAILS, and just ate up my sandpaper!

Re: Lets see those Highway One's!

.
Well, they aren't really Highway One's but I DID use the necks....
Fender humbuckers on the left, Fender P-90's on the right.

The necks were brand new, bought them from The Stratosphere on Ebay.
I always loved the big 70's headstock.

Re: Lets see those Highway One's!

A beautiful pair of Strats you have there NeoConMan, would love to hear the P90 equipped one. I'm betting it still sounds like a Strat, just bigger.

Re: Lets see those Highway One's!

Dead on!
A big, growling Strat at about 7, and a really pissed-off Strat on 10.
Guitar has serious Mojo, all my friends love it!

I like the one with humbuckers too, but all my friends kinda say "Yeah, it's cool...."

Re: Lets see those Highway One's!

Yeah, thought so. P90s of any stripe are big 3D pickups through just about any amp, think it has to do with the way they push the pre Amp.

Re: Lets see those Highway One's!

Ill have to grab my camera and I will put mine up. I do believe it is a first run of the Highway Ones with Texas Special Pickups I got put in and a few other changes. One of my best guitars.
