Sure those methods will work, but a more control method that is employed with the use of the tool i made, will be much more forgiving on your knobs and pots,,

With the turning of the Wingnut, removal is more precise and controlled, and the knob rises in a completely level manner, no see-sawing of the knob,,

BTW, the tools used to build the tool, was a pair of Pliers, Flat Head Screwdriver and a Dremel tool,,

My guitar is worth a 3 dollar investment,,

But do what works for you..
