I think you need to switch types of Pot every few weeks, otherwise it gets boring.

Personally I always change out the stock 300K Gibson pots for MATCHED CTS 500k pots, I find it really opens up the guitar. Some like it darker, and they prefer the stock 300k dudes. I usually change out the pups to some fairly low DCV handwounds, usually around 9k bridge and 7k neck. 500k pots really let these types of pickups 'sing'. Hell, give it a try, see what you think. You can always change 'em back! That's the beauty of modding - you can keep on doing it till you find what you like!
