If the pots are actually 500K (they can vary a LOT) they are probably ok. If the values are off, changing to better pots/caps will make a big difference.

The factory is making guitars for a profit; just keep that in mind. The aren't going to use the best parts they can buy.

If the guitar is new, play it for awhile before starting mods. Once you decide to change stuff, like the pots/caps, make the change, then evaluate. You may decide to change the pickups as well.

So, to answer your question...yes.
