Totally different beasts, and both have their place. If I could only have one guitar period, a nice heavy as hell soild ash tele with vintage plate, good alnico 5 pups and a 4 way switch would be my first choice.

Instead of asking "which is better", you should ask "which do you prefer", I have two strats and a tele , and all are essential pieces of my aresenal.
