Re: Which amp
Haven't you posted this question before?
FWIW I have a FM212R that's awesome for cleans and I use a Boss FBM-1 and a vintage MIJ Boss SD-1 to round out the sound and add "on the verge of breakup" sounds if needed.
I have tried the FBM-1 cranked to higher gain through it and it sounded great and pretty authentic.
I only use it for cleans though, I have a Marshall tube for dirty stuff.
None of those amps are tube. The Super Champ XD has a tube phase inverter and power amp but the pre-amp is still digital modelling.
It does sound good though and the tubes in the power amp warm up the sound somewhat - but you have to be very careful with the levels on pedals going in the front end as the pre-amp is digital and you can't drive it like you can with tubes.
It will only just keep up with a drummer and would need to be miced in anything but the smallest venues, as would the other 2 65w Fenders. The 212R would do just fine on it's own - but it doesn't do low volume so unless you add an EQ or Volume pedal or something, it's too loud for bedroom playing.
