well I remembered a tip someone posted back when I joined and I used the idea, just a tip to remember these little tips from our experienced luthors and players.
just a cut block of red gum (hard as all hell Aus native hardwood) cut 1mm less than the perimeter of the trem block and exactly 10.5mm thick (the space between my trem block and the body, yours may be different) this transfers allot of the vibration to the body, I didn't finish the block in anything, some woods will need to be finished with something to stop it from cracking, this piece was cut from a very solid block. the springs where let off a little more and the block is what is stopping the trem from moving.
so yeh, easy trick to turn a tremolo into a relatively good hard tail.
as always, pics
