Re: recording guitar??????
i learned how to do this from Harvey Gerst. He's worked with the likes of dylan and other greats in the past and he's shared his knowledge with some of us on another forum.
the mic to be used is a matter of personal preference and availability, but a lot of folks use a sure sm57 to record guitars. i do. set up your guitar and amp as normal with whatever effects and sound you like. then turn it up. while wearing the headphones that are plugged into your recording system, try out various positions and placements of the mic until you find one that sounds the way you like through the headphones. leave it there and start recording. it takes a while to find the right place and the right speaker to mic. cause each speaker will sound a bit different to sharp ears. but it's worth it in the long run cause you'll get a much better sound than recording direct or with the mic just anywhere.
