The SG is my favorite guitar of all time!
I got my first SG in 1969, from Gene Simmons, whom I attended college with in the Catskills of upstate N.Y. Yes, the very same Gene Simmons of KISS fame. His name was Gene Klein at that time. I paid $150 for it. It was exactly like the SG Special shown below:
I took the vibrato assembly off, and wrapped the strings around the bridge.
It left 3 holes in the guitar. Pete Townshend did the same thing.
I sold it...like a fool....for the same price I bought it for. I was fed up with
the music business and planned on quitting guitar altogether. Little did I know...that you just can't do that!
Next SG was a 1976 SG Standard with a badass bridge. Sold that one, too.
In 1990, I got a 1974 SG Standard, and two weeks later, I bought a 1979 Gibson LP Custom Silverburst. Money was tight a couple of years later,
so I sold the SG.
Now, I have two. A 1999 Naturalburst Limited Edition:
And a 2005 Special Faded:
I shall never part with my SG's again!
