Strange Idea
ok Flickoflash,
my first post on the new site and it's a strange one but I know you've had one of these so maybe someone has some insight or ideas. I have an 81 LP custom that I restored as a "Blacktop" it had a kahler trem in it and I filled the hole with a nice piece of maple, you can't tell but it's by no means a AAA flame or something. I haver a pretty good chunk of time in it but not a TON of money, I'm not against molesting it a little bit (since someone beat me to the punch) It plays like the shit, setup by Dan Erlewine himself, nearly perfect action and great sustain. anyhow, it weighs freakin 12+ lb! I'm thinking of routing a medium sized chamber in it to lighten it up a little bit, and to give it a little of that "Lucille" hollow-body tone. Where should I do the route to miss the most stuff? Will thihs ruin my sustain? How much will this actually lighten up this guitar? Any pics, ideas, talking me out of this stupidity, all welcome. thanks
