As for the scarf joint, what kind of questions do you have? The ideal way is however it's
easiest for you to do with what you have to work with. For example, I have a table saw,
so I fashioned a jig that allows me to run a neck blank through at 17 degrees to cut
the scarf. Then I plane those two pieces at the same time, flip the short end around and
glue. That's just my way of doing one.
Thanks for the support emoney! Sorry I forgot to mention my plan. I was going to combine a bolt-on neck with a set-in in some ways. The neck will bolt-on to the platform, but will have two (maybe three, not sure yet) dowels in the end that will insert into the body. I'm open to any suggestions if it isn't suitable, but I thought it would be original and optimal to do it that way seeing as I didn't have enough material to do a tenon, and cause I'm so used to Strat necks

And about the scarf, just in how to cut it accurately. i had a go at a few different ways, and am I right in guessing the longer the cut the stronger the joint? Thanks for the help
