I didn't like the stock 59/JB in my Edwards either. Although with a magnet swap (A2 instead of A5) they became much, much better. But IMO antiquities are the best humbuckers you can get for the money.

I also recommend replacing the pots with something having a more progressive taper. (Sound wise at 10 there's no difference to my ears).
