UPDATE.
It's an L48 s/n 668632 with added electrics. Some strange looking white P90 type pickup with round magnets & a hexagonal surround + vol & tone controls.
As previously mentioned, some splits around the jack input.
Any advise really appreciated as I'll need to move on this pretty quickly
